On April 25, 1952, Minister President Reinhold Maier (FDP/DVP) proclaimed the southwestern state in the constituent assembly in Stuttgart. What were the developments leading up to that day? Which actors were involved, what were their opinions?

We want to explore these and other questions together in the seminar. To this end, we will first take a closer look at the post-war situation in what is now Baden-Württemberg and then focus on the question of how the path to the southwestern state was commented on in the Baden press.

To this end, the participants of the seminar will take a closer look at individual Baden newspapers, follow their reporting and, in doing so, also analyze their political orientation and compare it with other press products.

Regular participation in the seminar meetings, preparatory reading, writing small texts on individual newspapers and presenting the results of the research in the seminar are obligatory for receiving 3 LP. Previous knowledge is not required. The number of participants is limited to 25.
