Practical supplement: Internship

The compulsory work placement gives LAS students an insight into professional work processes and requirements. Students are responsible for finding their own internship - ideas for internships in the area of the History of the Present major can be found here on the website. There are many options for choosing a suitable institution. All jobs in private or public institutions in which a connection to a humanities degree is recognizable (e.g. in cultural offices, museums, archives, memorials, libraries, etc., but also foundations, publishing houses or relevant departments in companies in the private sector) are possible.

The work placement must be approved by the examination board. It is recommended that the internship be completed between the end of the second and the beginning of the fifth semester during one of the lecture-free periods. The internship is generally scheduled for 240 hours, which corresponds to a duration of six weeks for a 40-hour working week.

You can find a guide to preparing the internship report here in the "Materials, forms and aids" section.
