At the beginning of 2020, the KIT Department of History organized a public lecture event on the history of the Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Center (now KIT North Campus) as part of the funding program "Kleine Fächer Wochen" at German Universities of the German Rectors' Conference and in cooperation with the KIT Archives and the Center for Applied Cultural Studies (ZAK) at KIT. The preparation was carried out with the participation of students in two project seminars, in which research on the topic was carried out and a poster exhibition was prepared for viewing during the event.
More than 150 listeners from KIT and the urban society visited the two-day event (program). Controversial discussions on the history and future historiography of the nuclear research center showed the wide spectrum of assessments of this topic. A report in the context of the final project brochure of the "Kleine Fächer-Wochen" is available for download here (p. 36-37).
