  • It is easier to talk about the Wehrmacht on the Eastern Front than about one's own (great) grandfather in Wehrmacht uniform. The lecture will address these contemporary historical gray shades of entanglement and our relationship to them. The theme of "Appearance and Reality" of the Memorial Day will be tied to the most important and least used source of family history: family photos. Because these always show both: who someone wanted to be and how someone was.
